I don't think I can afford Physiotherapy Treatment
Thursday, 11 August 2011 17:19
I am sure there are many people who believe physiotherapy is beyond their financial means.
If funds are limited come for a 60 or 90min Initial Assessment at £60 or £90 (particularly good if you are travelling quite a distance to see me).
In that appointment I will give you a working diagnosis / hypothesis and you will receive either a hand or foot treatment for your spine.
I will then give you exercises aimed at reducing your pain and increasing your function.
Having come for an assessment you are then able to access the 'Client Lounge' area of my website and my Back Class
- The Client Lounge area password is given to you at your consultation and enables you to access instructional videos for the exercises I am giving you.
- The Back Class is available only to past clients. It is a 45min drop-in class where I teach and monitor you doing the Sarah Key back exercises. The venue is 5mins from the clinic.
Most patients feel better when their spine has been assessed and they have an understanding of how to help themselves.
As a result patients often attend for far fewer appointments than they have done previously.
Testimonials now available
Thursday, 11 August 2011 17:05
Testimonials are always awkward to ask for but an important part of finding the right person to help you. So, I have bitten the bullet and asked some of my current clients for testimonials for my website which is a very humbling experience. Older testimonials have been taken from my comment book in my waiting room. All the testimonials are available to view in this book if you do choose to come see me. Thank you to you all, Rosena.
Allergy and Exercise

The Inaugural Conference of The College of Medicine 2011
It was thrilling to attend this first conference at The Mansion House last week.
The mornings speakers were like a breath of fresh air.
Truly inspiring.
The conference was opened by Lady Mayoress Mrs. Barbara Bear who's trained as a cranial osteopath.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Phil Hammond who likes to keep the energy up peppered with a few well placed jokes.
The most inspiring lecture of the day was by Professor Dean Ornish sharing his research into lifestyle changes.
He predicts that 75% of healthcare costs can be prevented and even reversed with lifestyle changes.
I was fascinated by the allergy lecture by Professor Stephen Holgate.
He spoke about allergy medicine being a public health problem which is increasing in severity.
He described that the UK has the worst allergy service in Europe, many G.P.'s not being trained in allergy assessment and treatment.
He gave many reasons why allergies are so common, one being that we are not exposed to enough micro-organisms.
He felt that living on a livestock farm was one of the best ways of preventing allergy problems, also, eating organic food and using probiotics.
The lecture which was closer to my heart as a holistic therapist was the lecture by Professor Michael Depledge.
His background is as a marine biologist.
He began by reminding us that we are all becoming increasingly disconnected to the planet, he reminded us that we are connected to the planet.
As such, when we do exercise outside in 'green spaces' and a new term to me, 'blue spaces' there is an extra sense of wellbeing not achieved with indoor sport / exercise. This sense of wellbeing and community is what helps people to feel less isolated and can help those suffering with depression.
It is exercising within and amongst nature that is the 'magic' ingredient to making you feel better.
If you would like to find out more, have a look at his website www.bluegym.org.uk.

A Stiff Back at Eurodisney
Monday, 21 February 2011 13:55
I am so pleased I packed my back block with me to EuroDisney.
Carrying a rucksack and standing in queues with 2 young children for 3 days left me with a stiff back at the end of the day.
Even if you didn't have a bad back before Disney, I can almost guarantee you will have some symptoms.
But the trusty back block to decompress the spine and the appeasing exercises are wonderful at grounding you and releasing all that tension, ready to start the madness all over again.
Pain is a Warning.
Thursday, 13 January 2011 06:32
I often feel that I am here to help patients understand what their body is trying to say to them. On occasions I do suggest it's a bit like body whispering or a foreign language in need of interpretation. Ultimately an ache or pain is the body telling you it is hurting and is saying quite definitely it needs your help.
If the ache or pain is ignored it will often come back more frequently or urgently and this is reflected in the type of pain you get. The more painful and intense is harder to ignore. However, never does an acute pain come without prior warning, and doesn't it always strike at an incredibly inconvenient time - the day before a holiday, your busiest time of year or classically the Friday before a Bank Holiday.
My philosophy is simple – as soon as you have pain take notice it is your body warning you that you’re hurting yourself. Seek advice and help early - either in the form of a massage or someone like myself. You’ll save yourself a lot of pain and will feel better much quicker
