Margaret

Margaret's story

Margaret a 75 year old lady was suffering with pain and stiffness in her back and was struggling to walk and put on her socks and shoes. She had been told by her G.P. that her symptoms were because of the Osteoporosis and nothing could be done. Her daughter referred her to me to see if I could help.

On examination she had a forward stooped posture and her ability to straighten was limited by her back pain. Her diagnosis was osteoporosis induced facet joint arthropathy of the lumbar spine. Her treatment was gentle mobilisations of the thoracic and lumbar spine with my foot on the floor. She was taught the first phase of Sarah Key's exercises and was asked to call me in a week to let me know how she got on. I'm pleased to say that both her mobility and the pain had notably improved. She was advised to continue her exercises daily and after three months she has seen further mobility improvement.
